The long-lasting effect at the Astoria Hotel
Mountain air & peace and quiet at the 5-star superior hotel
A short break in a mountain region at moderate altitude (approx. 1,200 m) has a long-lasting effect on health due to lower oxygen levels in the air. A fact that various top athletes have been using for years to improve their performance while training at altitude. This can even be achieved in just a few days with a tailor-made mix of activity and relaxation. This can stimulate the metabolism, reduce body fat without dieting, improve the cardiovascular system and reduce stress.
Our therapists will be happy to put together a suitable programme for you!
Effects of a holiday at the Astoria hotel in Seefeld
The long-lasting effect is based on scientific studies by the IHS (Institut Humpeler/Schobersberger), which prove that a tailored hiking holiday at moderate altitude in the Alps (1,200 - 2,000 m) provides a considerable relaxing effect:
- Improves the cardiovascular system
- Stimulates the metabolism
- Reduces body fat without dieting
- Improves the quality of the red blood cells and the oxygen supply to connective tissue
- Significantly reduces stress
- Regenerative effects due to activation of stem cells
- Increases subjective wellbeing and emotional feelings of happiness
4 days / 3 nights
Day 1: Vital status
As part of consultation regarding your state of health, body composition analysis, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, oxygen saturation and blood pressure measurements are taken. Besides a balance test, which determines your ability to balance and your muscle coordination, and a stress test, a test track completes your vital status check. The test track is a defined hiking trail where the heart rate is once again continuously measured and the oxygen saturation and subjective perceived exhaustion is measured again as the activity escalates.
Day 2 and 3: Activity sessions and active regeneration
Day 2 and 3 are all about "Experiencing using all your senses": Hiking, Nordic walking, jogging, … depending on the guest's personal requirements and objectives.
A balance is important between activity at altitude and beneficial relaxation sessions for the body and mind to recover. In addition to this, there are targeted relaxation exercises led by the coach, which take the guest's wishes and preferences into account above all.
Day 4: Final day
At the end the test track is walked once again and both the heart rate and oxygen saturation are measured. Training and lifestyle information is discussed during an in-depth and personal final consultation.
Long-term effects for you as a guest on holiday
A new and long-lasting holiday concept is being realised for the first time and exclusively in Tyrol at the Astoria hotel in Seefeld.
At the end of May participants in the launch event were able to convince themselves of these effects thanks to the measurements at the start and end of the programme. The programme was presented in the presence of celebrities from politics and sport: Former governor DDr. Herwig van Staa opened the event.
Famous guests at the Astoria Resort
Dominik Landertinger (last Biathlon World Champion and Silver medal winner in Vancouver) and Gregor Schlierenzauer (Overall World Cup winner, last Ski Flying World Champion and winner of several medals in Vancouver) supported the basic idea with their presence and explained how important a good, sound, well managed programme is.
Landertinger: "As an athlete I know how important it is to be able to rely on training recommendations. A holiday whose effect has been scientifically proven and sustainably improves my everyday life guarantees me that I am arranging the perfect alpine holiday."
The statements from Schlierenzauer about how important factors such as motivation by measuring their own improved data, personalisation and trust in the coach are to an athlete can also be transferred 1:1 to the holiday programme.
