As a result, Austrians have been showing an increasing interest in the mix of classic tea culture and trendy flavours for years. They are better and better informed about the tea varieties and their preparation, which results in growing demands on local gastronomy in terms of quality and variety.
More and more Austrian restaurateurs are also catering for this trend with a high quality range of teas. Combined with a cultivated tea culture, lovers of this hot drink experience wonderfully indulgent moments with a cup of tea in many local restaurants, cafés and hotels.
Tea culture at the 5-star superior hotel
The flourishing tea culture in Austria makes it more and more difficult for GAULT MILLAU to choose the country's top tea restaurants year after year. Despite this, together with TEEKANNE, they awarded the outstanding prize winners again in 2012, one winner per state, who make a special effort for the tea culture in Austria. The "Goldene Teeblatt" was awarded to the selected restaurateurs for the ninth time at an official ceremony at the Steirereck restaurant.
